Receipt for administration fee. More and more landlords are now taking an administration fee from prospective tenants to cover costs such as credit checks, inventory, tenancy agreement, land registry fees etc.

Since the introduction of tenancy deposit schemes, more and more landlords are deciding not to take a deposit at all. Instead, many landlords are copying letting agents and charging the tenant an “administration fee”. This fee is used to pay for the credit checks, land registry fees when checking the guarantor home ownership status, production of inventory, production of tenancy agreement and so on. The administration fee is absolutely never returned at the end of the tenancy (otherwise it would be a deposit under a different name and require protecting).

This document acts as a receipt and agreement for the administration fee and ensures that it is clear it is not to be returned and that it is not a deposit.
