Thanks to David d’Orton-Gibson for pointing out to us today that the tenancy deposit scheme operated by Capita has ceased trading.

Their website now says:

Capita Tenancy Deposit Protection is no longer accepting new deposits with effect from
14th September 2013. Any deposits registered with the scheme will continue to be protected unless otherwise notified. Landlords, agents and tenants who are affected have been notified in writing. If you have any queries, please call …

If we find out what happened with this scheme we will let you know although it must be said they were very expensive compared to others on the market. Also, they were the only scheme which not only required payment at the beginning of protection but also a further fee was payable if the tenancy continued into a statutory periodic tenancy.

We have suspended our Capita assured shorthold tenancy agreement as it is no longer needed.
