Credit report: Linked addresses and Buy To Lets

21 Mar 2017 | 1 comment

I recently got my credit report and see some of my BTLs are included as “linked addresses”. I have challenged this as I have never lived at the properties and do not want my credit score to be impacted by the tenants who live at my properties. So far, I have been unsuccessful in challenging this. Do you have some advice please?

I didn’t even know credit profiles did that! I suppose that’s why they’re “linked” addresses rather than “previous” addresses.

In our view, we can only see this being a benefit because credit is only affected where both name and address match. If a tenant had a bad history at the property, it wouldn’t affect you because the names wouldn’t match. Therefore as long as your payments are made in relation to the property it should reflect positively on your overall report. The report stays with the person, not the address.
