End of Tenancy – Keys Not Received

16 Sep 2020 | 1 comment

Our tenant has provided the correct notice and has now vacated the premises, however she was asked to return the keys to the agents, she has not done this and posted the keys back to ourselves and has confirmed this to us in an email.  The keys were posted last weekend but have not yet arrived.  Are we able to enter the premises to carry out the checkout or do we have to wait until the keys have arrived back with us ?

Happy with you entering in this scenario. The “symbol” of returning keys (even if you’ve not physically got them) is sufficient in our view that the tenancy is totally at an end and the property is back in your possession.
