Approaching Guarantor for payment

13 Jul 2021 | 1 comment

Hi

I have a tenant that has paid for the last 12 months but has not now paid anything for July (as of today).  I have tried calling, texting and emailing but he is not returning any contact.  I have just been round to the property and hand delivered a request for contact ( and payment ).  There was of course, no answer at the door.

He is on one of your AST’s, with his mum as guarantor.  In the absence of any contact from him at all, is there any reason not to ask for the payment(s) from the guarantor as early as possible ?  If I do ask, is there a specific process, or can you point me ‘how to’ on the website ?

Many thanks.

In the first instance, we would suggest a call to the guarantor because it sounds strange and probably there’s probably an explanation from what you describe.

However, if you can’t get in touch, certainly write to the guarantor and we have a template here.
