Authority to provide information to previous landlord

20 Nov 2020 | 1 comment

Hi

I have had a request from a previous landlord ( who provided a reference ) for my incumbent tenant regarding their current address – so they can send their end of tenancy details.

I would ordinarily provide this but would that contravene any GDPR rules ?

Many thanks

You’re right to be concerned because we doubt your privacy policy would cover sending an address like this.

However, you can get consent from your tenant first (email is fine) and if they give consent, you can send it.
