Question

Electrical Safety (England) | England | Responsibilities and Liabilities (England)

Is a DPM18C (Domestic Electrical Installation Condition Report the same as an EICR?

29 Apr 2022 | 1 comment

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am not an electrician, so was wondering whether a “satisfactory” DEICR carried out in September 2020 is the same as an EICR?

I am about to set up a Let Only tenancy for a landlord and have requested all the necessary compliance documents from the landlord and they have sent me a DEICR.

    Not a silly question!

Yes, that’s the same. The “D” is just for domestic.

In fact, for England, the type of report is not defined, and one of the duties is to “ensure every electrical installation in the residential premises is inspected and tested at regular intervals [5 years or by date in the report if sooner] by a qualified person“.

The key is “inspected and tested”.
