Question

Deposits and Tenancy Deposit Schemes (England)

Returned deposit letter and Section 21(4)a notice

16 Apr 2018 | 2 comments

I returned my tenants deposit money by bacs on Sunday 15th. I shall give them the letter confirming that it was paid in full on Tuesday 17th. This letter will also state my change of address as is different to one on tenancy agreement.
My question is how many days should lapse before I now serve the section 21(4)a notice? And is a weekend day ok?
Many thanks. Jan

For the bank transfer, you should allow a minimum 3 business days for clearance so Thursday onwards. If you are hand delivering the letter on Tuesday, Thursday onwards will still be fine for the section 21 notice.
