WALES ONLY

**NEW** This form is now a combined specified information and receipt. You can split the document so you can send the specified information first (perhaps with an invoice for payment) and then you can issue the receipt after receiving payment. It’s important that the specified information is given BEFORE receiving the holding deposit.

If you prefer you can download here the individual documents so you don’t have to split:

The form has been updated to include the specified information requirements.

From 1 September 2019, under the Renting Homes (Fees etc.) (Wales) Act 2019, a “holding deposit” is a permitted payment up to a maximum of 1 weeks rent. However, there is a very specific procedure to be followed when handling holding deposits.

When you click the download button, a combined specified information and receipt PDF is provided. The document can be split so you give the specified information first and then after payment, the receipt.

The receipt also acts as an agreement between payer and receiver of the holding deposit and outlines the reasons why the holding deposit may be retained.
