Rent Increase

is there a limit to the amount of rent increase i can ask for and how much notice must i give before i can charge the new amount. We have let our tenant rent the property at below market value to help them out for the last 2 years. A 3 bedroom semi for £350 pcm and want to increase it to £425

    The first thing to check is the terms of the tenancy as that may restrict the amount the rent can be increased by.

    If you’ve used our tenancy, there’s no restriction on the amount it can be increased by.

    That being said, a tenant can appeal a rent if its significantly above market rent (but a market rent will not be interefered with).
