Today applied for Warrant of Possession. I understand that these tenancies operate primarily under the common law rules and have little statutory security of tenure. Contract was an email outlining the 4 month term and the amount of rent. The landlord is resident and the occupied property is a basement with separate access to the main house but using the utilities of the main house. Can I now cut off the utilities?

You absolutely cannot cut off utilities! That would be a criminal offence.
It’s basically the same for a court order as an AST – it’s just that the notices served beforehand are a little different.
Protection from Eviction Act 1977 still applies to your tenancy
