Good Afternoon
We had a long term tenant who went into hospital after Christmas and then from there was put into a care home. Because his sister did not have power of attorney on his bank account the weekly rent has continued to be paid into our clients since March and we have now been advised that he has passed away. My question is, we are holding £1700.00 of rent for this tenant and although i know have a copy of the death certificate, as there is no will i have no proof of where this money should be paid to. What would your advice be in these circumstances please.

Bit out of our comfort zone I’m afraid and not entirely sure.
Presumably you’re classing the tenancy as at an end from when they went into the care home.
Perhaps try calling the solicitor on our website.
