There is no specific law requiring a portable appliance test.
However, you are required to supply appliances safe (and it’s for you to prove they are safe – not for the tenant to prove they are unsafe). Therefore, it is highly recommended that a PAT test be done for this reason. If you decide to do PAT testing, every 2.5 years should be sufficient for residential.
