Could you clarify the legal position regarding the December 2020 “How to Rent” guide and the “easy read” 21.07.2021 version of the “How to Rent” guide which is for tenants with disabilities. The Guild by default attaches the December 2020 version however we have an eviction being processed by a solicitor who is under the impression  the wrong one (dec 2020) was given and therefore the S21 served invalid.

    Our view is the “easy read” is just that, and it’s a voluntary addition to the How Rent Guide.

    The legislation here does not refer to an “easy read” version.

    (2) The information is the version of the document entitled “How to rent: the checklist for renting in England”, as published by the Department for Communities and Local Government, that has effect for the time being
