Question

Changing the Rent (England)

Rent Increase

14 Jun 2017 | 1 comment

I have a tenant on a periodic tenancy and I would like to increase the rent per month is there a limit to how much it can increase by as she seems to think it can only increase by £50 per month, or can it be brought into line with current market rents, it has been in need of bringing into line for some time and she has benefited from this for a while.

There is no rent control for tenancies granted during and after 1989.

Therefore, as long as it is a market rent, that’s all that matters.

Please see this article for full details on increasing the rent.
