Landlord Campaigners to Join Forces

Landlord Campaigners to Join Forces

Buy to let’s longest running landlord rivalry is coming to an end with the merger of two property campaigning groups.

The National Landlords Association (NLA) and Residential Landlords Association (RLA) want members to vote to join forces to form the new National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA).

The new organisation is slated to open for business from January 1, 2020 and pulls together the views of 80,000 landlords in England and Wales.

The NLA was formed in 1973 and the RLA in 1998.

“Rivalry can be a great stimulant – but can also sap the very strength you need to overcome your real challenges. That’s why after 20 years we believe it’s time to get together. A coming together of equals,” said a joint statement from chairmen Alan Ward of the RLA and Adrian Jeakings of the NLA.

“One voice, one more powerful organisation speaking to government and opening up new commercial opportunities.”

The two groups lobby the government over landlord rights, while providing other services for property investors.
